The cooling cones are arranged in a checkerboard pattern and serve to distribute the animals more evenly over the area, thus reducing social stress. In the summer months, vet.smart.tubes help cool the compost surface in addition to reducing heat stress. On cold days, vet.smart.tubes promote the drying of the compost area.
 

Operation in Wettmannstätten (Styria) Longer layover times

Before the vet.smart.tubes were installed, the 60 cows formed large groups in one corner of the stable at temperatures as low as around 15 °C (even in spring/autumn!). This led to reduced feed intake and reduced lying times - consequently also a loss in milk production. Attempts to solve the problem using axial and ceiling fans were unsuccessful.

The situation was only improved by installing vet.smart.tubes.
